Bearfoot Breaks & Santé Yoga Retreats

Have you ever been torn choosing between a yoga retreat and a fitness bootcamp? Wondered how far you could push yourself if you had the time and the expertise to support you? Well these retreats could be just perfect for you, combining both elements into a week jam-packed with activity and fun. All you need is an open mind, an open heart and a whole lot of energy.

You’ll be taken on a daily journey through the chakras, matching the yoga style, fitness challenges and excursions to each chakra. Combining movement therapy, breathwork, sound and music alongside invigorating yoga and daily workouts.

These retreats will be truly life changing so be prepared for the unexpected, be prepared to push your boundaries, be prepared to move, let go and explore all your senses.

 

Movement:

Our body is an amazing thing that loves to move and be moved. One of the key elements of our retreat will be to work with our bodies to get the best out of them. Everyone is different, everyone has their own story and every individual  body has it’s own history. Jake has combined his experience as a personal trainer, with movement therapy to help people move better and train smarter.

We will be doing daily mobility check ins, as well as physical fitness challenges using your own body weight (prepare to sweat) – think HIIT, think obstacle races, think Ninja Warrior -  and combining all of this with good old fashioned play.

Yoga:

And we’ll be doing yoga, lots of yoga. The days will be curated and designed to work with each chakra, or energy centre. You’ll learn the impact each chakra has on our mood, our feelings and our energy. Danielle will guide you through empowering and awakening yoga sequences, introducing you to new techniques and styles. We’ll include Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini and Ashtanga inspired flows. You’ll be in a safe space which will be welcoming for all levels of experience and we guarantee that you’ll expand your practice, at your own pace.

Sound:

Sound and music are an essential component of this retreat, not only will we experience the amazing sounds of nature and birdsong, we’ll be working with sound baths, the shruti box, drums, chanting and mantras, all guided by Dani’s stunning voice. For a final flourish of fun, Jake & Dani have designed an incredible dynamic yoga flow to house / techno music. Jake is an ex-Ministry of Sound DJ, so be prepared for some banging tunes.

Delicious Healthy Food:

We’re passionate about food and nutrition, everything we provide is made fresh, with a whole lot of love. We specialise in clean, healthy food and actively encourage our guests to explore new things. Our meals will be mainly dairy free, gluten / grain free and refined sugar free .. however, we can assure you, they will by no means be flavour free.

We are not exclusively veggie or vegan, though a lot of our menu will be plant-based and where possible, sourced from our own kitchen garden. Our eggs will be provided by our own flock of rescue hens and supplemented by our dear neighbouring chucks!

Our retreats are alcohol free, but don’t let that put you off, we’ll definitely have a lot of fun.

The Accommodation:

Bearfoot Lodge is a lovingly restored French farmhouse and each room has been individually designed with it’s own personality. Kirsty spends countless hours searching for all the little touches, bringing them back from all corners of the world to make sure that you stay is as comfortable as possible. Think boutique hotel and you’ll get an idea of the quality. We have a range of accommodation options, from shared twin rooms and luxury doubles. We want to keep our retreats intimate, so we’ll be keeping the numbers small, so that each guest can get all the attention they deserve.

How We’LL Spend our Days:

This section is usually called … a typical day … and quite frankly, we don’t think any of our days are typical. Here’s a little taster of the fun that awaits you when you join our tribe.

06:00 - 06:45 – sunrise meditation (for the early risers)
07:00 - 09:00 – morning yoga and power breathing
09:00 - 10:00 – breakfast
10:30 - 12:30 – forest / lake adventure (SUP, swimming, beach volleyball)
13:00: - 15:00 – lunch & free time
15:00 - 15:45 –  full body mobility check in
16:00 - 16:30 – HIIT circuit
17:00 - 18:30 – dynamic yoga flow (accompanied by house / techno beats)
19:30 - 20:30 – delicious dinners
20:30 - 21:30 – sound therapy

We’re also planning a mini-marathon, which will be an 8 hour session starting at 4pm mid-week. We’ll be incorporating yoga, cacao ceremony, star gazing, fire ritual, alongside sound and breathe work. This will be a truly unforgettable and heart opening experience, where friendships and memories will be built for life.

Jake & Kirsty, Danielle

Jake & Kirsty are ‘Bearfoot Breaks’. Jake, we could say is the ‘brawn’ of the team. However, having studied extensively for almost 10 years, he brings the science, the knowledge, but more importantly, the experience to guide you through a completely holistic approach when it comes to your health & fitness. He will make you move in ways you might not have done for many years, challenging you to ‘play’ but also working those muscles. He’s a bit like a quiet assassin, unassuming, but rest assured your muscles will know that they’ve met Jake when you wake up in the morning!

Kirsty, is definitely the ‘brains’ in the department, and simply put, without her these retreats wouldn’t be available to you. She works tirelessly to ensure that the house is designed to perfection and loves sourcing incredible design ideas and artifacts from everywhere she travels so that you can enjoy an incredible space. Kirsty also is the mastermind behind the menu, sourcing incredible ingredients and making them into your delicious food.

We want to make your time spent here with us like no other. We are blessed to have our beautiful friend, and dedicated yogi, Danielle, working along side us to bring you a life changing yoga experience. Dani is ‘Santé Yoga’. She lives, eats & breaths the life of a true yogi. Her energy, her passion, and her infectious energy will embrace you from the moment you interact with her.
